Add Requirements to Checklist Line Items

You can require your frontline staff to mark line items as complete, add photos, or leave comments in order to submit the checklist.

Your staff must be running at least version 5.5.11 of the OrangeQC iOS App or version 3.4.1 of the OrangeQC Android app in order for requirements to appear on their end.

This guide is for adding requirements to service checklists completed by frontline staff. See this guide for information on adding requirements to inspection forms.

How to add requirements

With the checklist form builder open, find the line item you'd like to adjust requirements for. Click the gray gear symbol to the right of the line item.

This brings up a menu that allows you to adjust the settings for each line item.

Under Requirements:

  • Check "Completion required" to require this line item to be marked as completed in order for the staff member to submit the form. (They will still be able to mark the line item as Not Applicable or Unable to Complete instead unless you turn those options off below.)
  • Next to "Photo Required," choose "Always" to require one or more photos always be submitted with this line item, unless it's marked as Not Applicable or Unable to Complete. Checking "Always" will let you set the number of required photos.
  • Next to "Comment Required," choose "Always" if you want staff to be forced to leave a comment on this line item before submitting the form.
  • If "Never" is selected for photos or comments, your staff still can add photos and comments, but they won't need to in order to submit the form.

In the "Allow 'Not Applicable" section:

  • The "Allow 'Not Applicable'" box is checked by default. Uncheck it if you don't want your staff to be able to mark the item as N/A. (Learn more about Not Applicable.)
  • Check "Require photo when N/A" to only add a requirement for one or more photos if the item is marked as N/A.
  • Check "Require comment when N/A" to only add a requirement for a comment if the item is marked as N/A.

In the "Allow 'Unable to Complete'" section:

  • The "Allow 'Unable to Complete'" box is checked by default. Uncheck it if you don't want your staff to be able to mark the item as Unable to Complete. (Learn more about Unable to Complete.)
  • Check "Require photo when unable to complete" to only add a requirement for one or more photos if the item is marked as Unable to Complete.
  • Check "Require comment when unable to complete" to only add a requirement for a comment if the item is marked as Unable to Complete.
